Meaning of the piece
Title: Guardians of the Ancestral Hikuri
At the center of this striking work, the hikuri (peyote) emerges as a living core of sacred energy, from which six serpents spring forth with strength and fluidity, symbolizing transformation, knowledge, and spiritual connection. Among them, hunting arrows traverse the composition as guides of intention, marking the path between the earthly and the divine.
The central peyote rests in a water environment, an element that envelops and purifies, while being guarded by four peyotes that reinforce its power and balance, like pillars of spiritual protection. In the upper right, fire burns intensely, representing the creative force, renewal, and the presence of the grandfather fire that illuminates everything.
A curandero shaman appears as a mediator between worlds, channeling the energy that flows in each symbol. Beside him, the head of a blue deer—a sacred and messenger figure—remains protected by two hunting arrows, reaffirming its role as a spiritual guide in this symbolic universe.
Each thread in this piece constructs a deep and vibrant narrative: a perfect balance between water and fire, between protection and transformation, where the hikuri is not only the visual center, but the spiritual heart that gives life to the entire work.
Craftsmanship made art, especially for collectors of Mexican art.
